Senior Corporate Counsel
About the Role:
We are working with a leading global technology and consulting organisation that is looking to appoint a Senior Corporate Counsel to support its UK and Ireland operations.
This is a broad commercial legal role, providing legal advice to senior management and internal business teams across strategic initiatives, general business matters, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts and risk management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts and legal documentation, while ensuring the business continues to meet its contractual, statutory and legal obligations across customer engagements.
This role would suit an experienced legal professional with strong commercial contract experience, ideally gained within IT services, outsourcing, technology, software licensing, consulting or a related B2B services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to management and business stakeholders across UK and Ireland operations.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, business agreements and legal documentation.
- Support customer engagements by identifying legal requirements, performing due diligence and advising on contractual obligations.
- Provide guidance on legal, regulatory, corporate and compliance matters.
- Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks across business practices and operations.
- Review statutes, regulations and commercial contracts, providing practical advice to resolve legal and business issues.
- Partner with internal business teams, vendors and external clients on contractual and legal matters.
- Provide legal review, analysis and counsel in relation to contract negotiation and related agreements.
- Coordinate and manage legal activities relating to corporate, commercial and risk management issues.
- Supervise, coordinate or support legal projects and junior legal staff where required.
- Provide regular reporting to senior legal leadership on key responsibilities, risks and matters.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Qualified lawyer with an LLB, LLM, JD or equivalent legal qualification.
- Current practising certificate or equivalent qualification in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong post-qualification legal experience, ideally with 10+ years in a commercial legal environment.
- Experience advising on outsourcing, IT contracts, technology contracts, software licensing or complex commercial agreements.
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of relevant governing laws, regulatory requirements and commercial risk.
- Ability to advise senior stakeholders on business, contractual, legal and compliance matters.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across internal teams, vendors and external clients.
- Comfortable working across different cultures and international business environments.
- Strong time management, prioritisation and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
