Head of Engineering - London (Hybrid) - up to £120,000 + Equity (ESOP)

The Role

As Head of Engineering, you'll lead a lean, high-performing tea, bringing structure and technical direction to a fast-paced, product-led environment.

You'll work closely with the CEO and Head of Product to shape the companies engineering culture, drive delivery and define the technical roadmap for an AI-driven platform trusted by global brands.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who loves both people and product and thrives in a high-autonomy, research-driven culture.

You'll lead and contribute to:

• Architecture, system design and code reviews
• Scalable, AI-powered systems built in Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL/NoSQL, AWS
• A collaborative, delivery-focused engineering culture
• Technical decisions that directly shape the future of media technology

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years' experience in software engineering, with 3+ years leading teams
• Strong technical expertise in Java, TypeScript/JS, SQL/NoSQL, AWS
• Proven success scaling high-performing teams in fast-moving environments
• A pragmatic, results-oriented mindset
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder influence
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Passion for AI, automation and the future of publishing
