Machine Learning Engineer
A fast-moving AI startup is rebuilding how logistics paperwork gets processed — one of the biggest bottlenecks in global trade. The product replaces slow, manual verification with production-grade ML systems used by enterprise customers.
They’re hiring now because demand is real, ARR is growing, and performance matters — this is about building systems that actually move money faster.
If you’ve ever wanted to be early at a company that feels more Palo Alto than corporate, this is that moment.
The Role
- You’ll own and evolve core ML systems powering high-volume document processing.
- A major focus will be reducing inference time on multi-document packets that directly impact customer cash flow.
- You’ll design and run experiments across prompts, models and architectures — then ship the winners.
- You’ll build and refine evaluation datasets for real production workflows.
- You’ll harden and extend services already live in production.
- This is a “ship weekly” environment where progress is visible and expected.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong Python experience building and running ML systems in production.
- Hands-on work with LLM or VLM-based systems, including evaluation and optimisation.
- Solid Docker skills and experience deploying containerised services.
- A builder mindset — you’ve shipped things end-to-end, not just contributed tickets.
- Comfort owning problems independently in a very small team.
- Nice to have experience with Go, workflow/orchestration tools, or systematic model experimentation.
What’s On Offer
- £80–90k base salary.
- 0.1–0.2% equity in options, with early-hire upside.
- A pre-seed company with enterprise traction and clear Series A ambitions.
- One of the first ML engineers in a 6–7 person team.
- Fully remote role — based anywhere in the UK, open to Europe.
- Real ownership and scope to grow with the company as it scales.
