The Principal/Lead Developer - AI-Assisted Engineering - Java/React - London Market Insurance - Contract to Perm will be working for a leading specialty insurance broking group, Embedded as the senior technical lead within one of several product squads. You'll work alongside a Development Manager, Product Owner and development team, owning technical direction with genuine autonomy and influence.
Principal/Lead Developer - AI-Assisted Engineering - Java/React - London Market Insurance - Contract to Perm Key Skills:
- A career software developer, with a distinguished-engineer mindset: you own outcomes, not tickets
- London Market experience is essential, ideally gained within a broker (eg building or supporting a broker workbench or placement platform). Insurer, MGA, carrier or InsurTech backgrounds will also be considered
- Strong hands-on capability in Java and/or React, or a well-rounded full-stack background
- A forward-deployed engineering approach: business-facing, proactive and on the front foot, comfortable working directly with stakeholders in person and always camera-on remotely
- Practical experience with AI-assisted coding practices, with a willingness to work day-to-day with GitHub and Copilot (exposure to tools such as Claude Code is a plus)
- The credibility to raise the technical bar across a squad, guiding developers and shaping how the platform is built
