Management Accountant

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT – SOFTWARE

Worcester | 2 Days Office / 3 Days Home | Permanent | Fast-Growth Business

£50,000–£55,000 + Benefits

Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys owning the numbers but wants more than just the month-end routine?

Do you like improving processes, working with different areas of a business and having the autonomy to make things better?

We Do Group are partnering with a fast-growing software business to recruit a Management Accountant into their FP&A team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership, plenty of exposure across the business and the chance to improve how things are done as the company continues to grow.

About This Business

This is a fast-growth software business with an ambitious and commercially focused finance team.

The business is continuing to develop, and finance plays an important role in supporting that growth. It’s an environment where good ideas are welcomed and there’s plenty of opportunity to improve reporting, automate processes and make the numbers more useful to the wider business.

You’ll be joining a small but high-impact FP&A team, giving you plenty of visibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior finance stakeholders.

The Role!

This is a broad Management Accountant role with real ownership.

You’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end production of the management accounts, while also getting involved in reporting, budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement.

There’s a really nice balance between getting the fundamentals right and having the freedom to improve processes, reporting and controls.

You’ll also have responsibility for managing and developing one member of the team, so it’s a good opportunity for someone who either already has management experience or is ready to take that next step.

You'll be responsible for:

  • End-to-end production of the monthly management accounts
  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts across the Group
  • Consolidated management accounts
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monthly Board and Executive reporting
  • Producing insightful reporting across different areas of the business
  • Developing P&L reporting by function, department and product
  • Working with key stakeholders to improve the quality of financial information
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting
  • Providing management information to senior stakeholders
  • Improving reporting processes, controls and reporting quality
  • Using systems, data and automation to make finance more efficient
  • Reducing and improving the month-end reporting timetable
  • Managing and developing one member of the finance team

The role combines core management accounting with broader reporting, FP&A and process improvement responsibilities.

About You

We’re looking for someone who takes real ownership of their work and enjoys operating with a good level of autonomy.

You’ll need to be technically strong and comfortable owning the management accounts process, but equally, this role will suit someone who naturally looks at a process and thinks, “How can we make this better?”

It’s a growing environment, so being proactive is important. You won’t need everything mapped out for you and you’ll be comfortable working with different stakeholders across finance and the wider business.

There’s also a people element to the role, so you’ll enjoy supporting and developing others while maintaining high standards across the team.

Wish List

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Strong management accounting experience
  • Comfortable owning the end-to-end month-end process
  • Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Advanced Excel
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders
  • Experience improving finance processes and controls
  • An interest in automation and using systems to improve efficiency
  • Previous experience managing or developing someone would be advantageous
  • Alternatively, ready to take your first step into people management
  • SaaS / software experience would be a bonus
  • Proactive, hands-on and comfortable working with autonomy

The requirement for a fully qualified accountant and advanced Excel comes directly from the brief, while SaaS experience and previous people management are advantageous rather than absolute requirements.
