We're supporting a fast growing, complex retail businesses as they continue an ambitious transformation programme following significant private equity investment. Having approximately 5x turnover growth in 3 years, the business now operates across 11 retail locations with continued expansion planned.
As part of this growth, they're looking to appoint an experienced P2P Transformation Lead to design, strengthen, and professionalise the Purchase-to-Pay function. This is not a traditional Accounts Payable management role; instead, it's a business-critical project focused on reviewing current processes, identifying control weaknesses, and building a scalable P2P framework capable of supporting continued growth.
You'll work closely with Finance, Procurement, IT, Operations, and senior leadership to map existing processes, improve governance, and define how Purchase-to-Pay should operate going forward.
The Role
Reporting directly into senior finance leadership, you'll take ownership of reviewing the end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay lifecycle across the business.
Rather than managing the day-to-day Accounts Payable team, your focus will be on understanding how purchasing currently operates, documenting existing workflows, identifying control gaps, and designing practical improvements that balance operational efficiency with robust financial governance.
Working alongside an existing Business Analyst, you'll help bring together information from multiple stakeholders before creating a clear roadmap for future implementation across systems, processes, approvals, supplier management and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and document the end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay process across multiple business functions, identifying risks, inefficiencies and control weaknesses
- Design a scalable P2P operating model capable of supporting a rapidly growing, multi-site business
- Map current purchasing workflows across vehicle procurement, operational expenditure, supplier payments, expenses and purchasing cards
- Lead the review of supplier onboarding processes, introducing stronger governance, approval controls and supplier management procedures
- Evaluate existing approval workflows, recommending appropriate authority limits and financial controls across the organisation
- Work closely with Procurement to define clear ownership between purchasing, supplier onboarding and Accounts Payable activities
- Partner with Finance, Operations, IT and site management teams to understand operational requirements and ensure proposed processes remain commercially practical
- Review existing purchasing card, prepaid card and employee expense processes, implementing stronger governance and approval frameworks
- Assess current system capabilities across the Internal Management System and Sage Intacct, identifying opportunities to improve integration, automation and workflow management
- Support the Business Analyst by providing finance expertise, validating business requirements and helping prioritise future system enhancements
- Create comprehensive process documentation, governance frameworks and implementation roadmaps for future rollout
- Present recommendations and business cases to senior leadership, helping shape future investment decisions around P2P systems and technology
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience delivering Purchase-to-Pay (P2P), Accounts Payable Transformation or Finance Transformation projects
- Strong understanding of end-to-end procurement, supplier onboarding, purchasing controls and Accounts Payable operations
- Experience designing finance processes rather than simply operating within them
- Previous involvement in ERP implementations, finance system improvements or workflow automation
- Strong understanding of approval hierarchies, delegated authority frameworks and financial controls
- Experience working within large, multi-site organisations undergoing rapid growth or transformation
- Comfortable working across Finance, Procurement, IT and operational business functions
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to facilitate workshops, gather requirements and challenge existing ways of working
Why Join?
