Atlassian Specialist
Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Atlassian Specialist to work with a key client based in London
*Please note this role will require onsite work in London on a weekly basis and will require candidates to work via an Umbrella Company*
*Candidates must be eligible for SC Level Security Clearance*
Job Description:
You'll have extensive hands on experience in administration of Atlassian Tools and you will be experienced in fundamental concepts including:
. Project creation and management
. User & group permissions
. Workflow management (creation and troubleshooting)
. Administation of JIRA plugins eg ScriptRunner
. Licence management of Atlassian application and plugins
. Supporting the wider estate on JIRA issues and requests
. Creating and configuring JIRA boards and JQL queries and filters
. Advise and plan application upgrades, based on release notes including security notices.
You'll have a thorough understanding of the Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Crowd and BitBucket). You'll understand the pros and cons of these technologies and have experience on various implementations surrounding them, or similar tools in that technical space.
We are also at the point in the lifecyle of the programme where we have a transitioned most of the business onto a large and complex AWS environment. As such the candidate should also be prepared to support the platform (for Collaborative Tooling) on an on-call basis.
Whilst the primary focus for this role is the administration of Atlassian products there are a number of other areas where specific skills would be of significant benefit. These include:
* Exposure to AWS infrastructure
. Previous experience with Linux/Unix environments
. Any prior knowledge of supporting products and tools including:
o Nginx
o PostgreSQL
o Terraform
o Atlassian API
o Scripting and automation using bash and Python
. Prior experience of administering Atlassian products on varying architectures (AWS, Kubernetes, Atlassian Cloud)
. Working alongside other technical and non-technical business functions eg commercial
Key Responsibilities:
. Atlassian Administration
. Supporting the Atlassian Toolset (Jira, Confluence, Crowd and BitBucket)
. Planning and implementing tool updates/patches according to the programme approach achieving a 'continual cadence' of updates measuring upgrade benefit (to our platform) on the Atlassian monthly releases
. Ensuring all plug-ins are maintained and kept up to date
. Working with test team to ensure test coverage functional/non-functional
. Working with automated CI pipelines for the Atlassian toolset
. Debugging issues
Things we seek:
. Extensive experience as a Atlassian Administrator and a relationship with the Atlassian vendor.
. Good communication skills, both in written and verbal form.
. Knowledge in new technologies (Docker/Kubernetes)
. Extremely sound knowledge of Linux.
. Understanding of CI environments and how they facilitate the automation process with other orchestration tools.
. Experience of building infrastructure in the cloud and designing for the cloud. We primarily work with AWS so knowledge in this area is particularly valuable.
. Show understanding of the concepts of projects, issues, spaces, pages and repositories
. Have previously created and deployed dashboards, agile/scrum boards, workflows, custom fields and schemes in JIRA
. Understands application linking, gadget and macro feeds.
. How roles, permissions and security levels work within the different apps and how they can be managed from a central user directory.
. Experience with PostgreSQL a definite plus.
. Good documentation principles.
. Previous application support and/or a DevOps background is a plus.
