Senior Software Engineering Lead - (Python, REACT, Line Management) | London Market Insurance

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Lead to join a pioneering London Market insurance client and help shape the future of their Underwriting Performance Innovation function. You'll play a key role in scaling the Innovation team from a single autonomous unit into a network of aligned, empowered teams which are supported by a core group of servant leaders. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with line management responsibilities, offering the opportunity to mentor engineers, influence organisational architecture, and drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies-including generative AI-to transform underwriting experiences.

You'll be great for this role if you:

• Bring significant experience designing and developing complex software solutions, with a strong track record of leading high-performing development teams.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in Domain Driven Design (DDD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), API design, integration patterns, and containerisation.
• Possess strong knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices, and thrive in Agile environments.
• Are proficient in React and FastAPI, with hands-on experience deploying cloud-native applications in AWS.
• Have a passion for coaching and mentoring engineers, and a desire to build autonomous, delivery-focused teams.
• Embrace ambiguity and change, with a strong focus on delivering high-value outcomes and enhancing the underwriting experience.
• Are excited by the potential of generative AI and emerging technologies to reshape how we work.

This is a permanent position offering up to £90,000 per annum plus an excellent bonus and benefits package.
