Engineering Apprentice (L3 Engineering Maintenance - Dual Discipline)
As an Engineering Apprentice at Wilo, you will work through a dual-discipline pathway, developing both mechanical & electrical engineering skills. Combining practical workplace experience with college learning to gain knowledge and expertise to maintain, troubleshoot, install and improve a range of engineering equipment & systems.
Role
- Complete all requirements of the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship programme, attending college and workplace training as scheduled.
- Learn to safely carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment.
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults under supervision.
- Support the installation, testing, commissioning and modification of engineering equipment.
- Develop practical skills in mechanical assembly, fitting, bearings, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics and alignment.
- Gain experience working with electrical systems, including motors, sensors, control circuits, PLC-controlled equipment and fault finding.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Use engineering tools, measuring equipment and workshop machinery safely and correctly.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency and safety.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete apprenticeship documentation.
- Follow all company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to support business objectives.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards learning, personal development and continuous improvement.
Training
- Majority of time spent in workplace. Attendance to Loughborough College one day per week, term time only, where you will study set units that map directly into your apprenticeship.
- Diarised visits from dedicated Trainer/Assessor.
- On-the-job training.
- Off-the-job training.
Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship, apprentices will have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Engineering Technician role within Wilo.
