Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager with a fast-growing SaaS business in the healthcare space. This is a hybrid role, based in London, two days a week.

As an experienced Engineering Manager, you’ll be joining the business at a pivotal growth stage. Our client has tripled their team in the past year and is now focused on scaling engineering culture and capabilities with the backing of leading investors. You will own delivery pace and quality while helping double the team in the next 12 months.

If you're looking to work in tech-for-good, this role lets you help develop and shape data-driven clinical tools that transform healthcare. Domain experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.

The business is looking for a high-impact Engineering Manager to lead the transition to scale-up: guiding teams of around 12 engineers (UK and Europe), setting a clear performance bar, and shaping a high-velocity engineering culture.

This role suits someone who thrives in high-growth environments, knows how to increase speed without sacrificing reliability, and wants a path to VP of Engineering.

About the role

  • Lead and scale high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Drive delivery with clear targets and metrics (cycle time, deploy frequency, change failure rate, MTTR)
  • Raise technical standards in code, architecture, reliability, and best practices
  • Make and communicate hard calls when needed: scope, sequencing, hiring, coaching, exits
  • Coach engineers and define structured growth paths and levelling rubrics
  • Collaborate with Product and Design on planning, prioritisation, and execution
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent

About you

  • Several years leading teams in fast-growing startups or scale-ups (20-100+ preferred)
  • Track record of increasing throughput and quality with data, not slogans
  • Comfortable getting hands-on to unblock design reviews, incidents, reading code
  • Strong product mindset focused on outcomes over output
  • Hands-on experience with Python, React, cloud infrastructure (AWS), Kubernetes
  • Clear, direct communicator with high accountability and high trust

On offer

  • Base salary of £95k - £120k depending on experience, plus equity
  • Rapid career progression with potential to grow into VP Engineering
  • High ownership role during a pivotal growth stage
  • Opportunity to shape the culture of a mission-driven tech team
