Job Specification: Senior Front Office Murex Business Analyst

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Front Office Murex Business Analyst to act as the functional bridge between business stakeholders and the Murex platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of how Murex works across Front Office, Middle Office, and Finance functions and be capable of translating business questions into Murex solutions.

This role is particularly suited to an individual who can engage directly with traders, finance, operations, risk, and business leadership teams to explain Murex concepts, advocate Murex best practices, and ensure business requirements are implemented in a way that aligns with the Murex operating model.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary functional advisor for Front Office, Middle Office, Finance, and Accounting users.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand challenges, requirements, and operational pain points.
  • Translate business questions and requirements into Murex functional solutions and terminology.
  • Facilitate workshops and user sessions to improve understanding of Murex processes and best practices.
  • Proactively identify impacts of proposed changes across Front Office, Risk, Operations, and Finance functions.

Murex Functional Expertise

  • Explain core Murex concepts and workflows to business users in non-technical language.
  • Guide users through trade lifecycle events from trade capture through valuation, settlements, accounting, and reporting.
  • Support business users in understanding:
  • Trade booking workflows
  • Trade amendments and lifecycle events
  • Position management
  • Market data usage
  • Valuation methodologies
  • Risk and exposures
  • P&L generation and reporting

P&L & Valuation Analysis

  • Act as the SME for Front Office valuation and P&L processes.
  • Help stakeholders understand:
  • How Murex calculates P&L
  • Realised vs Unrealised P&L
  • Accrual P&L
  • Economic P&L
  • Market-driven valuation impacts
  • Trade-level and portfolio-level P&L attribution
  • Work closely with Finance teams to reconcile and explain Front Office valuation outputs.
  • Investigate and explain valuation discrepancies between Front Office and Finance reporting.

User Adoption & Best Practices

  • Improve user understanding of Murex screens, navigation, and workflows.
  • Recommend Murex-standard approaches instead of custom operating models where appropriate.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and propose Murex-aligned solutions.
  • Support UAT, training, and business readiness activities.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of Business Analysis experience within Capital Markets or Treasury environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Murex experience with Front Office modules.
