Wolviston Management Services is delighted to be supporting our client with the recruitment of a Control & Automation Engineer to join their Process Engineering & Automation team at their Teesside facilities.
This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced Control, Automation, Instrumentation or Process Engineer to join a major process manufacturing organisation, offering a highly competitive salary alongside an exceptional benefits package.
The Role
Working across complex petrochemical facilities on Teesside, you will provide Control Engineering expertise to Operations teams and play a key role in improving plant safety, reliability, efficiency and performance.
You will lead the development and implementation of control strategies across a range of industrial automation systems, including PLC, SIS and DCS, while supporting Advanced Process Control schemes and critical manufacturing information systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ideally, you will hold a degree in Process Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related discipline. Alternatively, applications are welcomed from candidates with a relevant trade qualification, such as an Instrument Apprenticeship, combined with significant Process Control experience.

- Providing specialist Control Engineering support and complex troubleshooting
- Developing and implementing control strategies to improve plant performance
- Analysing plant data to identify opportunities to improve safety, capacity, reliability and efficiency
- Supporting plant optimisation and performance assurance
- Leading reliability investigations relating to process and control issues
- Managing Programmable Electronic Systems (PES) change control
- Working closely with DCS, Instrument/Electrical and OT Infrastructure Engineers
- Supporting the implementation of Automation Security protocols
- Sharing and adopting best practice through internal and external technical networks
Ideally, you will hold a degree in Process Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related discipline.
