Master Data Manager

The Master Data Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring complete and accurate Material Master data exists in the ERP system to support transactional activities.  Material master data contains business critical information for all materials used in procurement, planning, manufacturing and supply chain processes. The Master Data manger leads the management of the ERP repository for information on materials and contains data elements including part number, description, technical specifications for Product Engineering, stocking codes plus customer and vendor master data.  The successful candidate will work closely with teams across the organisation to drive Master Data best practice and delivering business results whilst developing the Master data team across multiple UK sites.

Key Duties

  • Accountable for the quality and accuracy of Material Master data in the SAP ERP system including inputs and outputs.
  • Establish policies and implement procedures to ensure data standards are adhered to. Weekly status updates and new materials creation.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability of the company’s data assets.
  • Lead SAP Material Master governance and acts as Business Process Owner for Material Master including Bills of Material, Routings, Production version and other data objects in SAP. Sharing relevant data with internal stakeholder processes as required.
  • Work closely alongside the Product Marketing team to ensure data introduction processes align with New Product Introduction processes.
  • Lead and develop a team of Master Data Analysts to ensure materials, customer and vendor accounts are created on time to support business processes for all ERP dependencies including financial and operational.
  • Roll out data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality through behaviour policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
  • Accountable for accuracy of Material Status (lifecycle) for all materials from cradle to grave. Driving process adherence ensuring data accuracy, integrity and provision in the correct timeframe and sequence.
  • Define and implement best in class indicators of performance and data quality metrics.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience (5+ years) in Master Data management and related activities.
  • Proven knowledge of Data policies and procedures
  • Proven proactive leader with excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the business.
  • Conscientious and methodical style to ensure high data compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Working Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana or equivalent
  • Proactively identifying data inaccuracies and root causes to drive solutions to ensure data process and management improvements
  • You will be required to travel to other UK sites, every 4-6 weeks
