Intelligence Analyst (12 Month Fixed Term)

Job summary

WWL's Analytics Team is pleased to offer an exciting 12 month fixed-term opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to join our team within the Data Analytics and Assurance Department.

You will be passionate about data and statistics, with a strong understanding of the national and regional Key Performance Indicators of the NHS.

You will have good data analysis skills with a willingness to learn and the ability to adapt to new ways of working.

You will work both autonomously and as a part of a team supporting the Department in the collation and submission of national and regional data submissions, as well as supporting the team in migrating its data processes over to the Cloud.

We offer a flexible working policy with a blend of office and home-based working. Postholder must be able to work from office a minimum of twice a week.

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 12 months to cover an employee on maternity leave and will end after 12 months (September 2026) or when the substantive post holder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job

To take a lead role in the implementation and monitoring of reporting mechanisms to improve Management Decision Making process.

To assist in the provision of data intelligence and advice to the Divisional Director of Performance, Divisional Clinical Director, Performance Managers, Divisional Heads of Department and other managers within the relevant Directorates

To have responsibility for any intelligence produced, validated or submitted by the post holder.

Integrate into the associated division / function and work alongside performance leads, clinicians, managers, accountants to fully understand their requirements.

In conjunction with the Analytics team produce and review regular weekly and monthly performance reports and disseminate to key divisional contacts. Provide advice and support to divisional staff to aid interpretation of the reports and alerts to key managers with regards to anomalies and adverse variances.

Play a key role in obtaining divisional agreement and ownership of performance targets

Liaise with the other DAA Analysts to ensure consistent reporting of activity, performance, styles and formatting.

Produce sensitive and confidential data for ad-hoc requests. Liaising with other departments and outside agencies to ensure that all deadlines are met.

Perform complex patient-based analyses from Trust's systems to tight deadlines.

Interpretation of national guidance/definitions and support the implementation of changes to reporting.

Job responsibilities

To work alongside the Analytics Service in the provision of an Analytics and Business Intelligence service to the Trust, its Divisions, Corporate Functions and Commissioners.

The post holder will support the Analytics Service in creation or interpretation of analytics.

The role will also support the design and rollout of interactive dashboards and will aid the DAA Development team during their production.

The post holder will require good analytical, technical and communication skills in order to aid the production of accurate & robust statistics & intelligence.

The post holder will gain a knowledge of their stakeholders strategic direction, as well as current issues, in order to know how to prioritise & manage their workload to ensure the most effective outputs are delivered at the right time.

The post holder should also have a good awareness of the Trusts external environment to identify & respond to variations from the local or national trends.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree / HND level. Alternatively work knowledge & experience of equivalent level.
  • Mathematics or Statistics qualification - minimum GCSE pass
  • Evidence of professional and /or personal development
Desirable
  • Educated to Degree / HND level in a Data, Mathematics or Statistics based field
  • FEDIP Practitioner (L2)

Experience

Essential
  • Experience analysing and interpreting data
  • Experience of working within a Business Intelligence Department
  • Experience of developing efficient information outputs
  • Capturing end user requirements.
  • Experience of using and developing outputs in Qlik / Tableau / PowerBI
  • Experience of identifying, managing, or communicating data quality issues.
