Deputy Pharmacy Systems Manager
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wye Valley NHS Trust Pharmacy team in a key role supporting the management and delivery of pharmacy information and ICT systems.
The post holder will play a vital role in maintaining and developing pharmacy databases and digital systems to ensure the safe, efficient, and financially responsible procurement, labelling, and supply of medicines across the Trust. Working closely with the Pharmacy Systems Manager and Procurement team, you will help ensure high-quality data, support service improvement, and enable informed decision-making aligned with Trust and wider NHS strategies.
Main duties of the job

To collaborate with pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred medicine use.

Tomonitorand document medicine supply issues, working with the Pharmacy Procurement management team to implement systems that ensure continuity of supply and minimise patient impact.Manage andmaintainkey pharmacy data systems(OHP, SSRS,Tecsol), acting as the operational System Manager to ensure their functionality and alignment with service needs.

Toassistin the operational management of automated dispensing cabinets ad any other automated product delivered in Pharmacy

To oversee the accuracy and maintenance of data setslinked to procurement, distribution, and dispensing, ensuring compliance with financial, regulatory, and professional standards.

To develop andmaintainSOPsfor system use,identifyingthe need for new procedures and ensuring updates are clearly communicated to all users.

To implement service developmentsin line with Pharmacy strategies and under the direction of the Pharmacy Systems Manager

Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ3 Pharmacy Technician/Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
- Accuracy Checking Technician Qualification
- Degree in systems management/equivalent qualification/equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Management Qualification at Level 3
Skills
- Ability to dispense accurately
- Knowledge and understanding of basic management principles including team management and motivation
- IT Literate in routine Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc)
Experience
- Significant relevant experience as Pharmacy technician
- Experience of maintaining and developing data sets
- Experience of training in ICT / data management systems
