Rate: £850-1100/d inside IR35
X4 Technology are partnered with a leading Energy & Commodities Trading firm who are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Management contractor to lead a major technology transformation within the freight trading systems domain.
This senior role is ideal for someone who understands both complex trading operations and large-scale system change. The programme spans multiple concurrent workstreams, covering systems integration, trading functionality, risk management and operational change. You’ll work closely with business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors to ensure delivery meets commercial objectives while managing risk at scale.
Responsibilities of the Project Manager (Freight Trading Systems Transformation)
- Lead and govern a complex, multi-workstream IT transformation programme
- Oversee mainframe decommissioning and workload migration
- Drive delivery across trading, risk, and integration workstreams
- Manage programme-level risks, dependencies, budgets, and senior stakeholders
- Ensure alignment between business strategy and technology execution
Requirements of the Project Manager (Freight Trading Systems Transformation)
- Proven experience in senior level project/programme management
- Strong understanding of the freight / commodities trading business
- Direct experience with Veson IMOS, including trading components and integrations
- Proven track record managing large-scale system migrations and legacy replacement
- Deep expertise in integration risk management across complex environments
- Confident operating with C-suite and senior business stakeholders
