Contract: Initial 6-month engagement with long-term programme scope
Rate: £700-800 per day (Inside IR35)
X4 Technology are partnered with a global commodities firm to appoint an experienced contract Test Manager. The successful candidate will take ownership of end-to-end testing across a major freight platform implementation programme.
The initiative supports business-critical shipping and freight activities, including vessel chartering, voyage execution, cargo allocation, freight risk management, bunker operations, port activity coordination and voyage profitability tracking.
This position will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of both standard freight platform capabilities and tailored system developments, focusing heavily on QA governance, operational assurance and deployment readiness.
Responsibilities of the Contract Test Manager (Freight Platform)
- Own and deliver the programme-wide test strategy, governance, SIT and UAT activities
- Validate end-to-end maritime and shipping workflows across integrated business systems
- Drive quality assurance for both core platform functionality and bespoke enhancements
- Manage defect resolution, testing controls, and cross-system integration testing
- Lead go-live readiness, cutover planning, and hypercare support after deployment
Requirements for the Contract Test Manager (Freight Platform)
- Demonstrable experience leading testing on large-scale transformation programmes
- Strong understanding of shipping, freight and logistics operational environments
- Experience testing both third-party/vendor platforms and custom-developed solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
