Rate: £700–800/d (inside IR35)
X4 Technology are partnered with a leading global organisation operating at the intersection of commodities trading and maritime logistics, to hire a contract Test Manager to lead end-to-end testing for a large-scale implementation of a maritime system (IMOS).
This programme underpins critical shipping and freight operations, covering vessel chartering, voyage planning and execution, cargo scheduling, freight exposure, bunker fuel management, port operations and voyage P&L. The role will ensure robust validation of both IMOS core functionality and bespoke enhancements
This is a programme-level role focused on quality assurance, operational risk mitigation and go-live readiness across the full shipping lifecycle - from pre-fixture and chartering through to voyage execution, demurrage, settlement and financial reporting.
Responsibilities for the Contract Test Manager (Shipping & Logistics):
- Define and lead programme-wide test strategy and governance
- Oversee large-scale SIT and UAT
- Validate end-to-end shipping workflows
- Assure quality of custom-built enhancements
- Manage defect lifecycle and quality control
- Coordinate testing across upstream and downstream integrations
- Lead go-live readiness, cutover planning and transition into hypercare
Requirements for the Contract Test Manager (Shipping & Logistics):
- Proven experience as a Test Manager on large-scale programmes
- Strong domain knowledge across shipping, freight and/or logistics
- Background testing both vendor platforms and bespoke/custom-built solutions
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge and influence senior business and technology leaders
This is a long-term, multi-year contract offering a high-impact role within a complex maritime transformation programme, with significant visibility across trading, operations, and logistics functions.
