Overview
Our client, a rapidly growing international cross-border payments company, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Director to join their London-based team. This is a senior role focused on driving new business growth across financial services clients, with a strong emphasis on strategic sales and revenue generation.
Role Summary
The Business Development Director will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing new business opportunities within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the company’s footprint across the UK and international markets, leveraging deep industry expertise and a strong network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a targeted new business sales strategy within the financial services sector
- Identify and secure new revenue opportunities with banks, financial institutions, fintechs, and other relevant organisations
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of high-value prospects
- Lead end-to-end sales cycles, from initial engagement through to negotiation and deal closure
- Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including product, compliance, and operations to deliver tailored client solutions
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums
- Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape in cross-border payments
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in fintech and/or payments, with a strong focus on cross-border or international payments solutions
- Proven track record of success in new business sales, specifically within the financial services sector
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets
- Strong network within banks, financial institutions, and fintech companies
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders (C-suite level)
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting cross-border payments
- Experience working in a high-growth or scaling fintech environment
