IT Business Analyst
IT Business Analyst | Requirements, Process Mapping, JIRA | Slough, hybrid 3 days in office
£40,000 to £45,000. Permanent.
Slough. Hybrid, three days a week in the office.
The business knows something needs to change. The technical team needs to know exactly what to build. You get it from one to the other, on your own.
Our client is a financial services business with a single UK office. You don't need a financial services background, but it is what they look for first. A BA from banking, lending, consumer finance or insurance goes to the top of the pile. Other regulated, complex or technology-led backgrounds are in scope too.
You'll join an established IT change team, reporting to the IT Business Solutions Manager. Work runs through JIRA, in Agile or Kanban.
The honest bit. You'll be expected to run your own requirements work from the start, on £40,000 to £45,000. That fits a BA ready to own the full job, more than someone who has been senior for years.
The job
Requirements. You run the workshops and the stakeholder interviews. You turn what people tell you into functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria the technical team can build from.
Process and documents. You map how things work now and help design the change. The requirements documents, use cases and process flows are yours, and you keep them current.
Testing and sign-off. You work with QA on test scenarios, support the business through UAT and get the change signed off.
The applications. Your priority for the first six months is learning our client's suite of applications in depth, until you are the person people ask.
What you'll bring
Essential:
- Experience as a Business Analyst on IT or systems change, on applications you can name.
- Requirements you led yourself, from discovery to sign-off.
- Process mapping as a regular part of a job you've held.
- JIRA used day to day in a job, to write and manage user stories.
- Agile or Kanban delivery, and a working grasp of the software development lifecycle.
- Testing and UAT support alongside QA.
- A wish to go deep on one application estate.
- Existing right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Useful: BA experience in regulated financial services, Confluence, Visio, ITIL.
Who this suits
You're probably an IT, Business Systems, Change or Technology Business Analyst now. You listen first, you can explain a system to senior people in plain words, and you'd like to know one set of applications properly.
It won't suit you if you've mostly supported someone else's requirements work, or if you want a new system to learn every few months. Or if you're applying to everything. The first interview is a conversation about you and why you want this job, not a technical test. Read this again beforehand and come ready to answer that.
