2nd Line IT Support Engineer Permanent Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 5:00pm Uttoxeter & surrounding areas £28,000 - £30,000 per annum DOE Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm Are you an experienced IT Support professional looking for your next challenge? We're recruiting on behalf of a growing IT company who cover Uttoxeter and the surrounding area. They're looking for an experienced 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join their friendly and supportive IT team, providing hands-on technical support across multiple school sites. This is a varied role where you'll be supporting both staff and students, acting as an escalation point for 1st Line Support and helping to ensure the Trust's IT systems remain reliable, secure and effective. It's a fantastic opportunity for an experienced school IT technician who wants to develop their technical skills and progress within a growing IT team.The Role Working across multiple school sites, your responsibilities will include:
  • Acting as an escalation point for 1st Line IT Support
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues across Windows devices, Microsoft 365, user accounts, printers, networks and educational software
  • Providing remote and on-site technical support to staff and students
  • Configuring, deploying and maintaining laptops, desktops, tablets and peripheral devices
  • Supporting classroom technology including interactive displays, projectors, AV equipment and printing solutions
  • Administering Microsoft 365 accounts, licences and permissions
  • Managing Microsoft Entra ID accounts and security groups
  • Supporting Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint
  • Assisting with staff onboarding and offboarding
  • Supporting Microsoft Intune and device management
  • Troubleshooting wired and wireless network issues
  • Supporting DHCP, DNS, VLANs and wireless networking
  • Maintaining accurate asset records and technical documentation
  • Supporting MIS and educational software
  • Providing IT support during examinations and key school events
  • Supporting safeguarding, filtering and monitoring systems
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers when required
  • Escalating more complex infrastructure issues to senior members of the team
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of IT services across the Trust
About You We're looking for someone who already has solid IT support experience and is confident working in a busy, customer-focused environment. You'll ideally have:
  • Previous experience working within a school, Academy Trust or educational environment
  • At least 2 years' experience in an IT support role
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments
  • Strong Windows 10/11 troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory
  • Good understanding of basic networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and wireless networks
  • Experience supporting printers, classroom technology and educational systems
  • Experience using an IT service desk or ticket management system
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
  • A professional, approachable and helpful manner
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and data security
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, as regular travel between Trust schools will be required.Desirable Skills & Qualifications It would be advantageous if you have experience or qualifications in any of the following:
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
  • Microsoft Endpoint Administrator (MD-102)
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Microsoft Intune
  • SharePoint administration
  • MIS systems such as Arbor, Bromcom or SIMS
  • PowerShell
