More than just fixing IT problems...

Are you the person everyone comes to when their laptop decides it no longer wants to cooperate?

We're looking for an IT Support Technician to join a growing business and become the go-to person for all things IT across both office and field-based teams.

This is a hands-on, varied role where you'll be responsible for keeping our people equipped, our technology running smoothly and our IT processes moving in the right direction.

You'll be the first point of contact for day-to-day IT queries, troubleshooting hardware, software and system issues, while working alongside our external IT partners when something needs a little more specialist attention.

But this isn't simply a ticket-closing role. We want someone who will take ownership, spot opportunities and make things better.

The Role

  • Providing first-line IT support to office and field-based colleagues.
  • Taking ownership of IT issues from start to finish, escalating to external IT partners when required.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, including basic repairs, upgrades and configuration.
  • Managing our IT equipment inventory and making sure colleagues have the technology they need to do their jobs effectively.
  • Preparing laptops, iPads and other devices for new starters, including software installation and access configuration.
  • Managing the return, reset and reallocation of equipment when colleagues leave.
  • Building a strong relationship with our external IT partners and making sure issues are properly followed through to resolution.
  • Supporting IT security and data protection requirements, including GDPR and Cyber Essentials.
  • Coordinating the annual Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation process.
  • Researching and recommending new technology, software and solutions that could improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Managing the ordering, recycling and replacement of IT equipment, always looking for sensible ways to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Keeping our comms room safe, organised and tidy.
  • Looking at the bigger picture and suggesting ways technology and processes could work better for the business.

The Person

You don't need to know absolutely everything about IT — but you do need to know how to find the answer.
We're looking for someone with experience in an IT/ICT support environment who is comfortable working with computer systems, mobile devices and general technology.

You'll also be:

  • Practical and solutions-focused - you enjoy getting to the bottom of a problem rather than passing it on.
  • Organised - you'll be juggling different queries, equipment and projects, so keeping on top of things is essential.
  • A great communicator - able to explain technical issues clearly to people with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • Commercially aware - you naturally look for efficiencies, improvements and ways to reduce unnecessary cost or risk.
  • Adaptable - priorities can change, and you're happy to roll with them.
  • Proactive - you don't just wait for something to break; you look for ways to make things better.
  • Curious - technology doesn't stand still, and neither should your knowledge.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is approachable, dependable and genuinely enjoys helping people.

Why apply?

Salary from £27,500 per annum, dependent on experience, plus eligibility for an annual company performance-based bonus.

You'll also receive:

  • 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Company sick pay scheme
  • Workplace mental health initiative
  • Social events throughout the year
  • Company office shut-down between Christmas and New Year

If you're looking for an IT support role where you can solve problems, take ownership and actually have an impact on how a business uses technology, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply now or get in touch with Jo Thompson - for more information.
