Data Center Engineer

We’re partnering with a leading global quantitative trading firm to hire a Data Centre Engineer into their London-based infrastructure team. This is a hands-on engineering role operating across data centre infrastructure, networking and Linux systems — supporting a highly performance-driven trading environment. The role is well-suited to engineers who have moved beyond pure “rack & stack” and want broader technical exposure and ownership.

About You

We’re interested in speaking with engineers from data centre, infrastructure or network-focused environments who are looking to broaden their technical scope.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the design, deployment and ongoing support of data centre environments across London and wider EMEA, working closely with network, systems and trading teams.

Key responsibilities include

• Designing and delivering data centre deployments (rack layouts, cabling, hardware rollout)
• Installing and configuring server and network infrastructure
• Supporting Linux environments, including OS deployment and basic troubleshooting
• Troubleshooting Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking issues (IP, routing, connectivity)
• Managing structured cabling (fibre & copper) to a high standard
• Coordinating with vendors, colocation providers and internal engineering teams
• Maintaining documentation, inventory and operational best practices

You’ll likely have

• Experience in a data centre or infrastructure engineering role
• Strong hands-on experience with cabling, hardware deployment and DC operations
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (L2/L3, IP, routing basics)
• Comfort working in a Linux environment
• Exposure to technologies such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Dell or similar
• A proactive, ownership-led approach and strong attention to detail
