Data Science Manager
Lead Data Scientist (Manager) - Simulation & Digital Twins
We're partnered with a major UK organisation investing seriously in simulation and digital twins, deployed at a scale where modelling gains translate into very large real-world impact. They're building a team to prove out where this capability can drive smarter decisions right across the operation.
They want someone who can lead from the front. You'll own a small team of Data Scientists and be accountable for raising the bar on how they model, but this is not a hands-off seat. You'll still be building, still in the code, and still the person who can take a vague operational problem and turn it into something a model can actually answer.
The work
- Creating modular, reusable components the wider team can build simulations and digital twins on
- Carrying projects from a fuzzy starting brief all the way to something running in production
- Turning genuinely ambiguous business challenges into well-framed data science problems
- Bringing people across the business with you, since the hard part is often adoption, not the maths
What makes you a fit
Must have
- Hands-on experience designing, building and analysing simulations across multiple paradigms, including Agent-Based Modelling and Discrete Event Simulation
- Depth in at least one of: Supply Chain or Logistics Simulation, Co-Simulation and FMI, Simulation of Complex Systems, or calibrating simulation models against large datasets
- A confident engineer, not just a notebook user, you write maintainable code and care about how it ships
- You've put data science work live at scale, and you've helped other scientists grow
Bonus points
- A heavily quantitative or research background
- You've been the person who introduced a new technical approach into a big, established business
Tools you'll lean on
Day to day
- Python (Java also welcome)
- Simulation and digital twin frameworks
- Solid engineering habits: source control, testing, object-oriented design
