A leading European betting and gaming operator is seeking a Senior Quantitative Engineering Manager to drive forward the engineering efforts within its Quant Team. The Role

The Quant Team focuses on developing quantitative sports models and taking them from prototype to production. Split between Quant Research and Quant Engineering, the team plays a critical role in building data-driven pricing and modelling capabilities.

As Senior Quant Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Own and lead multiple engineering-driven workstreams delivering Quant-powered products to business requirements within agreed timelines.
  • Work closely with product owners and business stakeholders on requirements and strategic roadmaps.
  • Set product goals and quarterly milestones, overseeing engineering-led work across teams.
  • Align Quant and Pricing Engineering workstreams, resolving blockers and mitigating risks.
  • Streamline the development of high-quality, accessible data assets for quant research and the wider business.
  • Lead strategic initiatives, frameworks, and tooling to optimise Quant Engineering ways of working.
  • Support team expansion, ensuring smooth scaling and future growth.
  • Manage and mentor managers and senior reports, focusing on professional development.
  • Play a lead role in recruitment, organisational planning, and skills development.
  • Champion Quant Team culture and represent engineering internally and externally.
  • Ensure governance, risk, and compliance obligations are met.

 

Key Attributes

  • Proven managerial experience leading Quants, Data Scientists, or Engineers, with coaching/mentoring responsibility.
  • Track record of delivering data-driven products from prototype to production.
  • Experience with modelling sporting data and/or pricing systems.
  • Skilled in roadmap planning, milestone delivery, and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (ideally AWS).
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both specialists and non-specialists.
  • Comfortable working across multiple levels, from strategic planning to delivery detail.
  • Experience driving cross-team collaboration in complex environments.

 

Desirable

  • Master's degree or PhD in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience line managing managers.
  • Intermediate/advanced programming skills in Python, Java, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with modern data technologies (e.g., Couchbase, Apache Kafka, or equivalents).
  • Experience overseeing large-scale strategic initiatives.
