Technical Lead - TypeScript/Node.js

£480 per day | Inside IR35 | Leeds Hybrid | Contract until March 2027

We're recruiting for an experienced Technical Lead to join a major digital transformation programme, leading a newly formed development team working on large-scale, business-critical applications and services.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take high-level requirements and work closely with architects, designers and engineers to turn them into well-designed, production-ready solutions.

The role

• Provide technical leadership to a newly formed development team
• Take high-level requirements through technical design and delivery
• Remain hands-on across TypeScript/Node.js development
• Design and deliver REST APIs, microservices and integrations
• Lead technical decisions and promote clean, secure and maintainable code
• Support automated testing, CI/CD and engineering best practices
• Mentor engineers, review code and help remove technical blockers

Key requirements

• Strong Technical Lead/Senior Engineer experience
• Excellent TypeScript & Node.js Back End development experience
• Full-stack experience with React, Angular or similar
• Strong REST API/microservices experience
• AWS
• Playwright/Jest or similar automated testing
• GitHub Actions/CI/CD
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles
• Confident taking ownership and working as a self-starter
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills

Contract details

Rate: £480 per day - Inside IR35
Start: 12 October 2026
Duration: Until 31 March 2027
Location: Leeds - approximately 1 day per week onsite, with flexibility
Clearance: BPSS
