About the role

We're looking for a Service Designer to join our Digital, Data and Technology team and help improve the services we provide to the social care and early years workforce across Wales.

You'll work alongside our Service Design Leads and multidisciplinary Agile teams to design and improve services from end to end.

You'll spend time understanding users, identifying problems and testing ideas to create services that are simple, inclusive, accessible and effective.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about User-Centred Design (UCD) and enjoys turning research and insight into practical improvements.

What you'll be doing

  • Champion and embed User-Centred Design across teams.
  • Design and improve end-to-end digital and non-digital services.
  • Understand user needs and use research and insight to inform design decisions.
  • Create service design artefacts including user journeys, service blueprints, service flows and prototypes.
  • Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions and stakeholder discussions.
  • Work closely with user researchers, content teams, developers and business stakeholders.
  • Test and iterate designs with different audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience, service quality and efficiency.
  • Support services through the full lifecycle and help ensure they are accessible, inclusive and meet relevant standards.
  • Share good practice and contribute to service design patterns and approaches.

You'll bring experience of:

  • Designing services around genuine user needs.
  • Creating user journeys, service blueprints, prototypes and service flows.
  • Using research, data and user insight to shape and refine services.
  • Working collaboratively in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging with users and stakeholders.
  • Working within constraints while being confident to challenge assumptions.
  • Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Designing inclusive, accessible and usable services.

Desirable

  • Public sector or public service environments in Wales.
  • Designing bilingual services.
  • Prototyping in HTML/CSS and responsive design.
  • Agile Project Management or User-Centred Design qualifications.
