Yolk Recruitment is partnered with a well-established engineering business to recruit a Lead Test Engineer / Test Manager for a 12 month contract. This is a hands-on lead role where you'll manage a small team of engineers and technicians, oversee test and development projects, and ensure the smooth running of a busy laboratory environment.

This is what you'll be doing

• Leading the test laboratory, managing engineers and technicians day to day.
• Carry out an active role in test activities, as you see fit.
• Planning and overseeing test and development work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the right standard.
• Driving continuous improvement through lean tools including 5S, visual management and standard work.
• Coaching and developing team members, setting goals, and creating a culture of openness, innovation, and accountability.

The experience you'll bring to the team

• Background in an engineering laboratory or test environment.
• Experience of hydraulics and/or electro-hydraulics.
• Leadership experience, with proven ability to manage and motivate a small technical team.
• Knowledge of data acquisition systems and test processes.
• Practical mindset, confident in planning work, solving problems, and making improvements.
