Senior Software Engineer
Salary: £120k or Contract Available
Location: London twice a week
We’re developing the next generation of automation infrastructure for the life sciences, bringing together robotics, data, and intelligent software to speed up drug discovery and deliver more reliable diagnostics.
As part of our continued growth, we’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help architect and build a real-time engine that drives large-scale scientific automation. This is a senior, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working close to the system, solving complex problems, and shaping high-performance software.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build, and optimise real-time backend systems capable of coordinating multiple automated workflows simultaneously.
- Write clean, performant services in Go choosing the right tools for each component and focusing on scalability, reliability and throughput.
- Develop software that operates seamlessly across Cloud & Edge environments.
- Partner with platform, data, and product teams to turn complex user needs into stable, production-ready solutions.
- Take ownership from prototype to scale, influencing architecture and delivery strategy along the way.
- Continuously refine your workflow through automation and modern AI-assisted coding tools.
- Work in an environment where quality, traceability, and resilience are non-negotiable, supporting automation and analytics in highly regulated settings.
Who we’re looking for:
- Around 10+ years of professional software engineering experience , ideally in high-throughput or performance-critical systems.
- A track record of taking projects from the ground up and scaling them successfully.
- Strong programming background in Go , with solid knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes , and message-based systems such as Kafka or NATS .
- Confident communicator who can bridge technical and product conversations with ease.
- Motivated by building technology with a genuine, human impact.
- Comfortable working on-site in London three days per week as part of a collaborative, fast-moving engineering culture.
