A UK-based software firm selling into SMB markets is seeking an Account Executive to support its continued growth across the accounting sector.

With strong demand and a consistent flow of inbound interest, the business is scaling its commercial team to better serve small accounting firms and sole practitioners.

Role Overview

The Account Executive will be responsible for driving new business growth across small accounting firms (typically 1–10 employees) in the UK.

This is a high-velocity, fast-paced sales environment, with a strong emphasis on handling inbound leads while proactively generating outbound opportunities. The role requires someone comfortable managing a high volume of deals, shorter sales cycles, and engaging directly with firm owners and decision-makers.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the full sales cycle, positioning the platform as a practical, easy-to-adopt solution that improves efficiency, compliance and day-to-day operations for smaller practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business revenue by acquiring SMB accounting firm customers (typically 1–10 employees)
  • Manage a high-volume pipeline of inbound and outbound opportunities
  • Qualify and convert marketing-generated inbound leads efficiently and effectively
  • Proactively generate outbound opportunities targeting small accounting firms across the UK
  • Run fast-paced discovery calls and product demonstrations, tailored to smaller firm needs
  • Sell the platform as a practical, easy-to-implement solution for improving efficiency and compliance
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to close
  • Build relationships with firm owners, partners and senior decision-makers
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting within the CRM
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and sales development teams to optimise inbound conversion rates
  • Work with Customer Success to ensure smooth onboarding and strong early customer adoption

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of closing high-volume, lower ACV deals in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience selling into SMB customers, ideally within accounting firms or professional services
  • Experience selling accounting practice software, tax software or compliance solutions
  • Strong understanding of small accounting firm workflows, including tax returns, accounts production and client management
  • Comfortable handling a mix of inbound lead conversion and outbound prospecting
  • Strong ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously with short sales cycles
  • Confident running product demos and handling objections with owner-led businesses
  • Experience working in a high-velocity SaaS sales environment with strong inbound lead flow
  • Highly organised with strong pipeline discipline and attention to detail
