Test Lead

A Bath based building society are undergoing a major transformation programme and as such need a Test Lead to join them on a 12 month fixed term contract. It's a great opportunity for someone to come onboard and really shape the direction of their test strategy.

What will I be doing?

You'll be helping to implement a new digital mortgage origination system and upgrade their core banking platform. They're looking for you to set the strategic direction for testing whilst also rolling up your sleeves and being hands on, from planning to execution to reporting – you'll be the go to person for all things test related.

You will be trusted with developing and owning the society's overarching test strategy, covering all phases of testing. A few examples of what your day will look like are:

  • SIT, UAT, Regression and Penetration testing.
  • Providing readiness assessments and go-live assurance.
  • Leading test planning sessions and creating high-quality test cases, scripts and traceability matrixes.
  • Defining test scope, entry/exit criteria and environment needs.
  • Championing improvements in testing processes, tools and quality standards across the programme.

What experience do I need?

Previous experience within financial services (ideally a smaller banking or mortgage firm) would be ideal. You're going to get a lot of autonomy to set things up the way you think works best. JIRA and TestRail has already been set up but you'll have autonomy in terms of whether you automise aspects of the project (it's completely manual at present) and the tools and frameworks you use. Some relevant experience that would be useful includes:

  • Prior experience as a Test Lead or Test Manager on large-scale system implementations or transformation programmes.
  • A strong background in SIT, UAT, Regression and Penetration testing.
  • A strong understanding of structured testing approaches, defect management and test reporting.
  • Experience with a breadth of test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, Azure DevOps etc.).
  • Proven record of strong stakeholder management, organisation and time-management.

What's in it for me?

Not only is it an extremely attractive project to have on your CV, but the role comes with a really attractive list of benefits. They have a strong focus on work-life balance as well as offering 27 days holiday (plus your birthday off and the opportunity to buy 5 more), 2 days off for volunteering, life insurance, a generous pension scheme (8% non-contributory), healthcare benefits and frequent socials. They're offering up to £45K as well as an annual bonus scheme.
