About the Role

We are working with an established ASIC and FPGA design consultancy supporting leading UK and European OEMs across a range of technically demanding engineering projects.

They are looking for an experienced FPGA Design Consultant to join a dynamic engineering team in Coventry, working across the full FPGA development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through to RTL design, verification, implementation and integration.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work across different customer projects and gain exposure to leading FPGA technologies and Tier 1 development processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse requirements and define FPGA solutions.
  • Develop FPGA architectures and detailed design specifications.
  • Develop RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Design FPGA modules considering area, speed, power and performance.
  • Perform module-level and top-level RTL verification.
  • Carry out FPGA synthesis and timing analysis.
  • Support power and performance analysis.
  • Integrate FPGA designs into target hardware platforms.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware and systems engineers.
  • Support technical documentation and design reviews.
  • Contribute throughout the full design lifecycle from specification through to implementation and verification.
Essential Experience
  • Degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles.
  • Commercial FPGA design experience.
  • Strong RTL development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation and synthesis tools.
  • Understanding of the FPGA development process.
  • Experience with RTL verification and timing analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Embedded C/C++
  • Python, Tcl or Perl scripting
  • Ethernet and packet processing
  • SoC architectures
  • FPGA/processor integration
  • High-speed digital design
  • Formal verification
  • Hardware/software co-design
  • Experience with multiple FPGA vendors and technologies
