About role :
- Checkpoint, Juniper SRX and Palo Alto Firewall knowledge (deployment and administration). Priority would be Palo Alto and Checkpoint being used for the role around 65% of day-to-day operations.
- Knowledge for Routing and Switching (35%) of the role would comprise of this especially for the upcoming LAN refresh in our DC’s. Good overall understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 concepts.
- Knowledge of ACI Fabric’s would be useful including automation and scripting.
- ISE NAC and monitoring tools such as Solarwinds.
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals: This includes knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), different network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), and network architectures (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
- Network device configuration: The ability to configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment using vendor-specific commands or tools.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Network engineers must be adept at identifying, diagnosing, and resolving network issues that can arise from hardware, software, or configuration problems. Familiarity with network monitoring tools
- Good understanding of security principles: knowledge of security concepts for firewall, VPN’s, data etc to maintain a healthy network.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Installing and configuring network devices: This involves setting up routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment according to network specifications.
- Troubleshooting network issues: When network problems arise, network engineers diagnose the cause and implement solutions to restore functionality.
- Supporting network users: They may also provide basic network support to end-users, resolving connectivity issues or answering questions about network resources.
- Documenting network configurations: Maintaining clear and up-to-date network documentation is crucial for future troubleshooting and reference
