We are a VC-backed startup focused on behavioural AI, currently in stealth. We are building for retail with a focus on Recommendation Systems, Reinforcement Learning and GenAI. We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer with experience in advanced machine learning systems to work with our team of industry leading domain experts and engineers. Our platform is designed from the ground up — no legacy, no patchwork systems — just a clean slate and a clear vision. Our mission is to bring the intelligence of modern machine learning directly to the in-store shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution development : Translate latest ML advances into impactful solutions and products, from MVPs to fully deployed systems.
- Novel Applied Research : Innovate upon state-of-the-art ML research applied to consumer personalisation.
- Performance optimisation : Optimise machine learning models for performance in modern environments (e.g., distributed clusters, GPUs).
Essential Qualifications:
- Hands on experience: 3-5+ years implementing applied machine learning research in commercial context.
- Education: MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
- Machine Learning Expertise: Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning algorithms (e.g., deep neural networks, supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, transformers, GNNs).
- Programming Proficiency: Excellent Python programming skills with experience in developing and debugging production-level code.
Desired Skills (Bonus Points):
- Generative AI: Strong practical understanding of LLMs and transformers.
- Recommender Systems and/or Behavioural AI knowledge.
- Reinforcement Learning knowledge.
- Bringing Models to Production - specifically building data pipelines (realtime or batch) & data quality using modern toolchain.
- PhD in a related field.
