Director of Information Technology
IT Director | London | Hybrid (3 days onsite)
• Senior technology leadership role within a large international organisation undergoing significant operational and technology evolution
• High-impact position with genuine influence across strategy, transformation, operations, and executive decision making
• Opportunity to modernise a complex IT environment rather than simply maintain it
We’re partnered with a major international business looking to appoint an IT Director to lead technology across a significant UK operation.
This is not a traditional infrastructure management role where success is measured purely on uptime and ticket metrics.
The business is looking for somebody commercially minded, operationally credible, and capable of sitting at executive level whilst still being close enough to technology and service delivery to drive meaningful change.
You’ll be the person the business turns to when technology needs to move faster, scale better, improve resilience, support growth, or simply work more effectively.
The environment itself is large-scale, multi-layered, and highly operational. There are multiple moving parts, global stakeholders, third-party providers, legacy considerations, ongoing transformation programmes, and a real need for somebody capable of bringing structure, direction, and accountability across the wider technology landscape.
This role would suit somebody who enjoys influencing at senior level, challenging the status quo, and building credibility across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Why this role stands out:
• Genuine ownership and visibility across a major UK operation
• Direct interaction with executive leadership, global IT, and operational management teams
• Large-scale transformation and modernisation initiatives already underway
• Opportunity to shape how technology supports future business growth
• Broad remit covering infrastructure, applications, cyber security, service delivery, governance, vendors, and strategy
• A business that wants IT viewed as an enabler rather than a support function
What you’ll be responsible for:
• Owning and delivering the technology strategy and roadmap for the UK business unit
• Acting as the senior technology advisor to operational and executive leadership teams
• Driving improvements across service quality, resilience, governance, user experience, and operational efficiency
• Leading major transformation programmes across infrastructure, enterprise applications, and operational technology environments
• Managing relationships with internal shared services teams, global technology functions, and external suppliers
• Overseeing budgets, forecasting, commercial management, and technology investment decisions
• Building and developing a high-performing IT function with a strong service-led culture
• Supporting wider business initiatives, tenders, operational expansion, and growth projects from a technology perspective
• Working closely with cyber security, architecture, cloud, PMO, and enterprise application teams globally
• Ensuring robust governance, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity capability
What they’re looking for:
• Proven experience operating as an IT Director, Head of IT, or senior technology leader within a complex operational environment
• Strong understanding across both infrastructure and enterprise applications
• Experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes and managing third-party service providers
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and vendor relationships
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the business
• Strong service management mindset with experience improving operational IT delivery
• Comfortable operating within global or matrix-led organisations
• Previous experience within operationally critical, multi-site, or highly regulated environments would be advantageous
This will be a great challenge for somebody who enjoys being at the centre of the business, influencing technology direction, solving operational challenges, and building an IT function that genuinely enables growth rather than simply supports it.
