Junior User Acceptance Testing Analyst
About Us:
Here at c2c we take pride in being an award-winning train operator running services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, serving 26 stations in East London and South Essex. Our customers never stand still and neither do we. We anticipate, innovate and flex around our customer’s needs and it takes a great team to do this.
We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as a User Acceptance Test Analyst.
It is an exciting time to join c2c as we move into a new era of railway reform, aligning with Great British Railways (GBR) and the Department for Transport (DfT) to deliver a simpler, more connected and passenger-focused railway.
Purpose of the Role:
c2c manages and maintains a complex Retail System that supports both customers and frontline staff. This system comprises the Ticket Issuing System (TiS), Ticket Office Machines (TOM), Back Office Machines (BOM), handheld devices, Ticket Vending Machines (TVM), as well as the c2c website and mobile application. As c2c continues to evolve and enhance its Retail System, there is an ongoing need to ensure that all changes deliver a reliable, high-quality, and fit-for-purpose service. The Test Analyst will play a key role in achieving this by leading and executing client-side testing activities. The role is responsible for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in support of software development, upgrades, change requests, and incident management across the Retail System.
Key Accountabilities:
- Create and maintain high-quality test scenarios, test cases, and regression packs for the central TiS and all retail channels.
- Execute SIT and UAT across multiple environments using robust test cases, scripts, and regression packs to a high standard.
- Produce and maintain test reports for defect and incident management, ensuring clear communication with development teams and business stakeholders.
- Maintain test data, accounts, and test assets to ensure testing is organised, controlled, and thorough.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Retail System software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Conduct SIT and UAT at required locations, including c2c Headquarters, c2c stations across London and South Essex, and the Rail Delivery Group test facility in Barbican, London.
- Be self-sufficient in reviewing use cases, ticket fares engines, business rules, wireframes, and designs to understand the expected behaviour and appearance of applications.
- Plan and prioritise testing activities in line with release and change schedules, under the direction of the Test Lead.
- Support the incident management process by verifying, analysing, and testing reported incidents and their resolutions.
- Perform Production Verification Testing (PVT) to support the successful closure of all production releases.
- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
- Participate in on-call duties and work flexible hours where required to support releases and incidents outside of peak times.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Required:
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (preferred).
- Proven experience in structured software testing, including SIT and UAT (essential).
- Preferable experience in compatibility testing and accessibility testing.
- Experience testing web-based systems, e-commerce platforms, and mobile applications.
- Good working knowledge of issue and defect tracking tools.
- Experience with cross-browser and multi-device testing tools.
