Technical Sales Application Engineer

dSPACE is seeking a Technical Sales Application Engineer to support customers across the UK, with a particular focus on expanding our presence in the Aerospace market.

This customer facing role combines strong technical understanding with commercial awareness. You will work closely with customers as they explore and adopt dSPACE’s simulation, validation, and testing solutions across the full development lifecycle from early software and model‐based development through to integration and validation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys technical discussions, system‐level thinking, and demonstrating how advanced tools deliver real engineering and business value.

Your Responsibilities

Engage with customers to understand their development challenges and position dSPACE solutions to meet their technical and commercial requirements.

Support growth within the Aerospace sector, including applications such as avionics, flight control, and safety‐critical embedded software.

Contribute to the sales process through technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and evaluations, both on‐site and online.

Demonstrate and explain solutions across the dSPACE portfolio, including:

  • Model‐based development and verification
  • Software‐ and Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop simulation
  • Virtual integration and validation concepts (e.g. virtual ECUs, co‐simulation)
  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and product teams to develop tailored technical solutions and proposals.
  • Build strong, long‐term customer relationships by supporting early project phases and technology adoption.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends in simulation, embedded software development, safety‐critical systems, and digital validation.

In Addition, the Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate

  • A strong interest in, or motivation to develop toward, a customer‐facing technical sales role.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with engineers, project leaders, and decision‐makers.
  • High levels of self‐motivation, initiative, and a drive to succeed.
  • Effective presentation and demonstration skills.
  • Willingness to be based at, or commute to, the Cambridge office.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Aerospace, Automotive, or Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Broad understanding of embedded software development and validation workflows.
  • Familiarity with model‐based development tools such as MATLAB®/Simulink®.
  • Exposure to one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Software‐ or Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop simulation
  • Virtual validation or co‐simulation
  • Safety‐critical development environments
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical capability into clear customer value.
  • Proactive, structured, and comfortable working at the interface between engineering and sales.
