Ecommerce Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the performance, optimisation, and development of a thriving e-commerce operation while working closely with Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, and external technology partners.
The Role
As E-commerce Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the e-commerce website, ensuring it delivers an exceptional customer experience while maximising revenue, conversion rates, and profitability.
You'll take ownership of both the commercial and technical aspects of the platform, identifying opportunities to improve customer journeys, increase engagement, and deliver measurable growth through data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities
E-commerce Platform Management
- Manage the day-to-day operation and performance of the website.
- Ensure optimal functionality, security, speed, stability, and user experience.
- Oversee website integrations, payment gateways, checkout processes, hosting, and order management.
- Maintain accurate product information, promotions, and customer-facing content.
Conversion Rate Optimisation & Customer Experience
- Drive improvements in conversion rates, average order value, customer retention, and online revenue.
- Identify and remove friction points across the customer journey.
- Lead A/B testing and optimisation programmes.
- Analyse customer behaviour and implement enhancements based on data-driven insights.
Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor and report on key e-commerce KPIs, including:
- Website traffic
- Conversion rates
- Average Order Value (AOV)
- Cart abandonment
- Bounce rates
- Customer engagement
- Revenue performance
- Site speed and technical performance
- Produce actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
Website Trading & Merchandising
- Work closely with Marketing teams to maximise commercial performance.
- Forecast stock and trading requirements to achieve sales and margin targets.
- Optimise website merchandising based on customer demand, stock availability, and sales trends.
- Support promotional campaigns, seasonal launches, and trading initiatives.
Technical Project Management
- Own the website development roadmap.
- Manage external development agencies and technology partners.
- Deliver website enhancements, integrations, and new functionality on time and within budget.
Customer Insight & Research
- Conduct user testing, surveys, heatmap analysis, and customer research.
- Translate customer feedback into measurable website improvements.
- Continuously refine the online customer journey.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure GDPR compliance and secure management of customer data.
- Maintain website security standards and proactively mitigate digital risks.
- Support business continuity and platform resilience initiatives.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines commercial thinking with technical understanding and a passion for delivering exceptional online experiences.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing an e-commerce website with responsibility for trading performance and growth.
- Strong knowledge of Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) principles and methodologies.
- Advanced experience using Google Analytics and performance reporting tools.
- Experience managing website development projects and external agencies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Understanding of website security, GDPR, and digital compliance.
- Experience using heatmapping, customer journey analysis, and testing platforms.
Desirable
- Experience with Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or similar e-commerce platforms.
- Knowledge of SEO, UX/UI, and digital marketing channels.
- Experience with A/B testing and customer insight tools.
- Understanding of warehouse, fulfilment, and order management processes.
This role offers hybrid working, with 1 day of home working per week.
