What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take strategic ownership of the technical direction, system architecture, and operational capabilities of a highly innovative platform. Core responsibilities include:

Technical & Architectural Ownership

• Lead the design and evolution of a robust, scalable AWS-based system architecture.
• Drive best-in-class DevOps and infrastructure practices across the engineering function.
• Own system and solution architecture decisions, ensuring security, scalability, and reliability are at the forefront.
• Establish and optimise CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.

Product & Roadmap Leadership

• Define the engineering roadmap that underpins the product’s next phase of growth.
• Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and product enhancement.
• Shape technical standards, frameworks, and delivery processes.

Leadership, Scaling & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing in-house engineering team.
• Act as the key interface between engineering, product, data, and leadership stakeholders.
• Translate technical strategy into commercial value with clarity and credibility.
• Manage external vendors and third-party technology partners effectively.

Hands-On Engineering (Where Needed)

• Contribute to hands-on development when required, setting the technical bar for the team.
• Provide guidance across multiple languages and frameworks including Node.js, Python, Golang, Typescript, React.js, and more.

Key Skills & Experience

• System Architecture (AWS essential)
• DevOps – AWS cloud, CI/CD, automation
• Infrastructure-as-Code – Terraform
• Strong experience in at least one backend language: Node.js, Python, Golang, Typescript
• Knowledge of React.js / JavaScript
• Databases: NoSQL and Postgres
• System security & secure-by-design practices
• People leadership – mentoring, coaching, team building
• Vendor / 3rd-party management
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
