Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java / Python)

Contract Length - 6 months

Location - London (2 days onsite)

We are hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer for a high-priority, ASAP-start contract role with a leading UK tech platform.

This is a hands-on senior engineering position within an established team building scalable, modern full stack systems.

The Role

You’ll be a senior individual contributor working across backend and frontend systems, helping shape technical direction and confidently engaging with stakeholders to influence engineering decisions.

The core stack is Java-first, with increasing importance on Python-based services (including orchestration, agents, and modern AI/LLM integrations), alongside a strong React frontend.

This is not a leadership/management role, but you must be able to operate at senior level, challenge decisions, and drive engineering quality.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a strong Full Stack Engineer with recent commercial experience across:

• Java + Spring Boot (core requirement, must be recent – ideally last 12–24 months)
• Python (recent hands-on experience essential – services, orchestration, or AI/LLM work highly valued)
• React (strong frontend experience is critical)
• Experience building and delivering end-to-end full stack applications (frontend, backend, APIs)

Plus exposure to:

• Cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP also fine)
• Containers (Docker, Kubernetes – Kubernetes preferred)
• Data systems (Postgres / NoSQL; bonus for vector DBs, embeddings, semantic search)
• Agile delivery environments
• Engineering best practices (TDD, SOLID, XP principles)

Other Key Skills

• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management
• Ability to challenge technical decisions constructively
• Senior-level ownership and accountability (IC role, not managerial)
• Reliable, collaborative, and comfortable in fast-moving environments

⚠️ Important notes

• Must have recent Java AND Python experience (last 1–2 years ideal)
• Frontend (React) experience is essential – full stack capability required
• Candidates must be comfortable working onsite in London twice per week (Soho)
