Location: Central London (Hybrid: one a fortnight onsite)

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a high-growth SaaS organisation in Central London that is scaling its cloud-based platform and strengthening its engineering leadership. As part of this growth, they are seeking a Lead .NET Software Engineer to guide a talented team within a modern, high-performance engineering environment.

This is an opportunity to lead from the front, owning architectural direction, driving technical excellence, and ensuring delivery of scalable, resilient systems in a cloud-first, microservices-driven environment. Youll be a hands-on leader, balancing coding, mentoring, and strategic influence across multiple teams and initiatives.

The Role

As a Lead .NET Software Engineer, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including:

• Designing and leading the development of scalable backend services using .NET 8 (C#)
• Architecting cloud-native microservices and distributed systems on AWS
• Driving engineering standards, best practices, and technical excellence across teams
• Leading architectural discussions and guiding long-term technical strategy
• Collaborating with product, DevOps, and front-end teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Mentoring and coaching engineers to help them grow their technical and leadership skills
• Overseeing delivery quality, performance, and maintainability across services

About You

You are an experienced, hands-on technical leader who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges. Youre comfortable taking ownership of architecture and delivery while empowering others to do their best work.

Youll bring:

• 8+ years of commercial experience with C# / .NET Core / .NET 6+
• Proven experience designing and building distributed, microservices-based systems
• Deep understanding of AWS (ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, etc.)
• Strong background in API design, asynchronous/event-driven architectures, and system scalability
• Expertise with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps tooling (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps)
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and influencing cross-functional teams
• Commitment to engineering quality, clean code, and continuous improvement

Nice to Have

• Experience leading or scaling engineering teams within a SaaS or cloud-first environment
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS patterns
• Exposure to serverless architectures and event streaming (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc.)
