Lead Frontend Engineer (React / AWS)

£650/day (Inside IR35)

Manchester (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week)

6 Month Contract

We’re working with a large-scale, technology-led business investing heavily in a greenfield platform build, and they need a Lead Frontend Engineer to help shape it from the ground up.

This is not a typical “frontend dev” role.

The frontend is central to the product, not an afterthought. You’ll be owning how users interact with the platform, while working closely with backend and product teams to shape the overall system.

What you’ll be doing:

• Owning frontend architecture across a modern React/Next.js platform
• Building and scaling micro-frontend architecture (Module Federation)
• Working closely with backend teams on API design, data flow, and integration
• Deploying and serving applications within AWS (CloudFront, S3, etc.)
• Designing performant, scalable UI for a high-traffic, customer-facing platform
• Staying hands-on while providing technical direction within your squad

What they’re looking for:

• Strong React / Next.js experience (this is frontend-led)
• Experience building or working within micro-frontend architectures
• Solid understanding of AWS and how frontend applications are deployed and served
• Good grasp of authentication & authorisation in modern web applications
• Experience working on scalable, high-performance platforms
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on lead (not purely managerial)
