The Opportunity

Our client is a highly successful, enterprise-scale SaaS organisation investing heavily in the evolution of a core digital platform that underpins critical business decision-making for customers at scale.

This Lead role sits at the intersection of technology, product, and delivery. You will take ownership of a high-impact product area, guiding technical direction while remaining close to the code and deeply engaged with engineering outcomes. This is not a hands-off management role — it is a leadership position for someone who enjoys shaping systems, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence within a modern SaaS environment.

The platform operates at significant scale, handling complex data, performance-sensitive workflows, and a growing customer base. As a result, this role offers both technical depth and strategic influence.

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning the technical direction and delivery of a core SaaS product area
• Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, setting standards and best practices
• Working closely with Product and Architecture to shape roadmaps and technical solutions
• Remaining hands-on where needed, contributing to design and complex problem-solving
• Ensuring systems are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable
• Driving continuous improvement across engineering processes, tooling, and quality
• Acting as a senior technical voice in cross-team and stakeholder discussions

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a Lead Engineer, Tech Lead, or Senior Engineering role within a SaaS or product-led environment
• Strong background in building and evolving enterprise-grade platforms
• Experience leading teams while staying technically credible and engaged
• Solid understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, and distributed systems
• Experience working closely with Product Managers and Architects
• Comfortable balancing delivery, technical leadership, and stakeholder engagement
• Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams

Backgrounds that combine strong engineering fundamentals with product thinking will be particularly well suited.
