Senior Data Scientist

Senior Data Scientist

Location: Manchester (Hybrid – 2 days onsite)

Salary: £85,000 + 10% bonus

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing data function within a large-scale, product-led organisation, building intelligent systems that directly influence commercial decision-making at scale.

You’ll play a key role in developing a next-generation decisioning platform used by operational and commercial teams to optimise outcomes in real time. This is not a research-only role — your work will be deployed, used, and measured in live environments.

If you’re motivated by solving complex, high-impact problems and want to see your models drive real-world results, this is the kind of environment where your work will genuinely matter.

The Role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will:

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models that underpin core decision-making systems
  • Develop pricing, segmentation, and behavioural models to drive commercial optimisation
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and impactful
  • Contribute to the development of a production-grade data science capability, including model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Translate complex modelling outputs into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Play an active role in shaping best practices, tooling, and standards across the data function

This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of problems end-to-end — from initial concept through to production and performance measurement.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Decisioning and recommendation systems used in live operational environments
  • Pricing and optimisation models balancing multiple commercial factors
  • Customer and behavioural segmentation models
  • Experimentation and measurement frameworks to validate impact
  • Model explainability and interpretability for business users

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in data science, machine learning, or statistical modelling
  • Proven experience delivering models into production environments
  • Commercial awareness — you understand how data drives business decisions, not just technical outputs
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex problems
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Technical Environment

  • Python (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch where relevant)
  • SQL and large-scale data processing
  • Cloud-based environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Experience with model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management is highly desirable

Why Join

  • Work on high-impact systems used daily in real-world decision-making
  • Join a growing data function with strong investment and leadership backing
  • Opportunity to shape how data science is applied across a complex organisation
  • A collaborative environment where your work is visible and valued

Additional Information

  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week onsite in Manchester
  • Competitive salary with performance-related bonus
  • Opportunity to work on complex, meaningful problems at scale
