Job Descriptions:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and repairing production and packaging equipment to ensure maximum reliability, minimum downtime and safe, efficient production.

Candidates may come from an electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled engineering background, but must have strong practical, hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Respond quickly to production breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Diagnose, fault-find and repair production and packaging machinery.
  • Maintain equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, conveyors, drives, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Carry out routine inspections, servicing and component replacement.
  • Support machinery installation, modification and commissioning.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Complete maintenance records and update CMMS where applicable.
  • Work closely with Production and Operations teams.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, BRCGS, HACCP, GMP and food hygiene requirements.

Essential:

  • Recognised engineering qualification – NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.
  • Hands-on maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
  • Strong practical fault-finding and breakdown experience.
  • Experience maintaining production and/or packaging machinery.
  • Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and carry out repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of an engineering team.
  • Flexible and able to work within a fast-paced production environment.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within food, beverage, bakery, dairy, meat, ingredients, sauces or other FMCG manufacturing.
  • PLC fault-finding experience.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
  • Experience with CMMS systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or RCA experience.

Candidate:

  • We are open to engineers from electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled backgrounds. What is most important is that you are a practical, hands-on maintenance engineer who is confident working on manufacturing equipment, diagnosing breakdowns and getting production back up and running safely and efficiently.
