Brief overview of the business areas
Global Cybersecurity enables businesses and functions to manage information, technology and cybersecurity risks by ensuring these are understood and that the controls used to manage them are defined, assessed and implemented appropriately. The role sits in the first line of defence within the risk management framework.
The Cyber Engineering Enablement team ensures Cybersecurity Engineering teams adopt an appropriate Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Deployment (DEPL) process when delivering changes to Cyber applications.
Role Purpose
You'll help Cybersecurity engineering and application teams meet the Bank's software delivery requirements by driving the adoption of SDLC and Deployment (DEPL) Controls across both internally developed applications and third-party/vendor software solutions. You will monitor and report on compliance, improve the quality of evidencing, identify and communicate risks, support remediation activities, and provide user-focused training and guidance to ensure consistent adoption of control requirements. You will work closely with application teams, Cyber Management teams, and central control functions to strengthen control effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
Reporting Line
Reports to the Cybersecurity SDLC/DEPL Control Operator.
Key stakeholders
Cybersecurity project and product teams, application owners, engineering and delivery teams, Control Owners, Cyber Management teams, central control functions, audit partners, and wider governance, risk and compliance stakeholders.
Accountabilities
Define and embed good practice: define what good compliance looks like for SDLC and DEPL Controls; coach teams on best practice and support remediation of gaps and non-compliance.
Operate the SDLC/DEPL spot-check process: plan and run control-related spot checks for Cyber changes and applications; track outcomes, actions, and closure.
Evidence and reporting: support teams to produce complete, audit-ready evidence (eg, testing, approvals, change records) and maintain accurate compliance and regulatory/control reporting.
DevOps metrics monitoring: monitor the agreed DevOps metrics used to support software delivery; identify trends, outliers, and recurring issues; recommend corrective actions.
Training and enablement: Create and deliver clear, user-friendly training materials, guidance documents, process documentation and communications for both technical and non-technical audiences to support adoption of SDLC/DEPL controls, processes, checks and metrics.
Stakeholder management: facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify expectations, drive decisions, and resolve issues; manage queries and engagements in a timely manner.
Continuous improvement: simplify and improve workflows and documentation to make compliance easier for engineering delivery teams.
Drive adoption and evidencing of controls: Partner with application delivery teams to improve adoption of SDLC and Deployment controls, increase the quality, consistency and completeness of control evidence, and support remediation of compliance gaps identified through assurance activities.
Risk identification and escalation: Assess, document and communicate control weaknesses, compliance issues and delivery risks to Cyber Management, Control Owners and central governance/control teams, ensuring appropriate escalation, tracking and mitigation actions are maintained.
Data analysis and control reporting: Extract, transform, analyse and report compliance and operational control data using APIs, Excel Power Query and other appropriate tooling to identify trends, risks and opportunities for control improvement.
The role supports adherence to controls and evidence quality; delivery ownership remains with engineering teams and control ownership remains with designated Control Owners.
