Role Title: IDAM MIM Engineer

Location: Manchester or Inverness

Work Mode: Fully onsite 5 days onsite/week

Duration: 6 months contract initially

Rate: £510 per day (PAYE through Umbrella)

Role Description:

• We are seeking an experienced Identity & Access Management (IDAM) Engineer to provide L2/L3 support for a large-scale, highly customised Identity and Access Management environment.

• The successful candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) and will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing critical identity management services across the organisation.

• The environment contains significant customisation, bespoke workflows, rule extensions, and integrations with multiple identity platforms, requiring an engineer capable of performing deep technical analysis and resolving complex incidents.

• The role will involve supporting integrations between Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and BeyondTrust, ensuring the continued delivery of identity life cycle management, provisioning, authentication, and access governance services.

• This is a senior L2/L3 support role requiring strong operational experience within complex enterprise IAM environments.

• This role operates within secure facilities in either Inverness or Manchester and requires participation in a on call 24x7 operational shift rota.

Key Responsibilities
Provide L2/L3 operational support for a highly customised Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) environment.
Analyse, maintain, and troubleshoot complex MIM synchronisation, provisioning, and identity life cycle management processes.

Support and maintain MIM components including:
Synchronisation Service
Metaverse
Connector Spaces
Management Agents
MIM Portal
Workflows
Provisioning and Deprovisioning Processes
Investigate and resolve identity provisioning, reconciliation, and authentication issues across connected systems.
Support integrations between MIM, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, BeyondTrust, and other enterprise applications.
Perform root cause analysis for incidents, recurring issues, and service failures.
Maintain and support custom MIM rule extensions, workflows, management agents, and automation components.
Review and troubleshoot custom C# and .NET code supporting MIM functionality.
Support Joiner, Mover, and Leaver processes and ensure accurate identity life cycle management.
Implement and support identity governance controls, role-based access models, and provisioning standards.
Collaborate with security, infrastructure, application, and service management teams.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles.
Participate in service improvement initiatives, automation activities, and platform optimisation projects.

Essential Skills & Experience
Identity & Access Management
Extensive hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) within enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) principles.
Proven experience supporting highly customised MIM implementations.

Experience supporting Privileged Access Management (PAM) platforms.
Knowledge of BeyondTrust PAM or Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM).
Experience integrating MIM with cloud-based identity providers.
Experience working within highly regulated or secure environments.
Understanding of Microsoft Identity Governance capabilities.
Familiarity with SailPoint, CyberArk, or other IAM platforms.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise identity environments.
Knowledge of ITIL processes and operational support models.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on senior IDAM engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Identity Manager and a strong understanding of enterprise identity ecosystems. They will be comfortable supporting a heavily customised environment, investigating complex identity and access issues, and working across multiple integrated technologies including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and BeyondTrust .
The successful candidate will have the technical depth to operate at L2/L3 level, perform root cause analysis, support bespoke MIM customisations, and work closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure the stability, security, and integrity of critical identity services.
