Description:
Integration Analyst
Role Purpose
- The Integration Analyst is responsible for providing the technical analysis, discovery, planning, and delivery support required to successfully design, migrate, modernise, and decommission integration services across complex programmes.
- Working closely with architects, engineers, product owners, delivery managers, and business stakeholders, the role acts as the bridge between business requirements and technical implementation. The Integration Analyst develops a deep understanding of applications, APIs, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and operational processes to support informed technical decision-making.
- Unlike a traditional business analyst role, the Integration Analyst operates primarily within the technical domain, helping delivery teams understand existing integration estates, define migration requirements, assess impacts and dependencies, maintain delivery backlogs, and produce the technical artefacts necessary to support successful delivery.
- The role combines analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, technical understanding, and delivery support to reduce ambiguity, improve planning accuracy, and accelerate delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Discovery & Workshops
- Lead technical discovery activities across applications, APIs, integration platforms, and supporting services.
- Facilitate workshops with business, application, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
- Elicit and document current-state integration landscapes and technical processes.
- Identify dependencies, risks, constraints, and architectural considerations.
- Build an understanding of business-critical integration capabilities and operational requirements.
- Support architects in defining future-state integration approaches and migration strategies.
- Produce discovery outputs that provide clear visibility of integration estates and associated complexity.
API & Integration Analysis
- Analyse existing APIs, services, interfaces, messaging solutions, file transfers, and system integrations.
- Document interface behaviours, protocols, data contracts, dependencies, and service interactions.
- Assess integration patterns and identify opportunities for rationalisation, modernisation, or simplification.
- Support API inventory creation, classification, and assessment activities.
- Evaluate integration readiness for migration, transformation, or cloud adoption initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to validate technical assumptions and design decisions.
- Assist in defining integration requirements and acceptance criteria.
Migration & Decommissioning Support
- Support assessment of applications and integrations for migration and transformation.
- Analyse technical dependencies and identify migration sequencing requirements.
- Assist in the creation of migration plans and transition approaches.
- Identify potential impacts, risks, and operational considerations associated.
- Support cutover planning and readiness assessments.
- Help maintain accurate application, integration, and dependency inventories.
- Support evidence gathering required for decommissioning approvals and closure activities.
Planning & Estimation
- Support architects and delivery leads in sizing and estimating technical work.
- Assist in identifying delivery scope, assumptions, risks, and dependencies.
- Break large technical initiatives into manageable work packages and backlog items.
- Provide analysis to support roadmap development and release planning.
- Contribute to capacity planning and delivery forecasting activities.
- Help ensure technical planning decisions are supported by evidence and analysis.
- Maintain traceability between discovery findings, requirements, and delivery activities.
Backlog & Delivery Support
- Create and maintain high-quality user stories, technical stories, and backlog items.
- Ensure backlog items contain appropriate context, requirements, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
- Support prioritisation activities with Product Owners, Architects, and Delivery Managers.
- Assist delivery teams by clarifying requirements and resolving queries.
- Track delivery dependencies and action owners.
- Support governance, reporting, and readiness activities.
- Help ensure delivery teams have sufficient information to progress work effectively.
Technical Artefacts & Documentation
- Produce and maintain technical discovery reports, analysis outputs, and design support documentation.
- Develop application and integration inventories.
- Create process flows, interface catalogues, and dependency maps.
- Support production of architecture decision records, migration assessments, and technical recommendations.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the project life cycle.
- Ensure documentation remains aligned with programme standards and governance requirements.
- Support knowledge transfer and onboarding activities through high-quality documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement

- Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Facilitate workshops, reviews, and technical discussions.
- Build effective working relationships across multiple delivery teams.
- Provide structured analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for technical discovery and analysis activities.

- High-quality technical discovery outputs delivered on time.
- Accurate identification of integration dependencies, risks, and constraints.
- Reduction in delivery ambiguity through effective requirements and backlog management.
- Improved planning accuracy and estimation quality.
- Successful support of migration and decommissioning activities.
