Network DNS Engineer

Job Description:

Role: Network DNS Engineer
Location: Knutsford
Working Mode: Hybrid (3 days Onsite weekly)
Contract Type: Inside IR35
Duration: 6 months
Pay Rate: £420 per day Inside IR35

Key Responsibilities:

Manage DNS and DHCP services including record updates, zone management, scope configuration, and IP allocations.
Troubleshoot name resolution issues, DHCP leasing problems, and DNS performance incidents using tools such as dig, nslookup, Wireshark, and tcpdump.
Maintain IPAM accuracy, including subnet structures, address utilisation, and configuration integrity.
Support DNS/DHCP changes, migrations, and updates following established change control processes.
Monitor service health and ensure resilience through redundancy, failover testing, and capacity management.
Assist with hybrid cloud DNS integrations (Azure DNS, AWS Route 53) and conditional forwarding configurations.
Apply DNS security controls including DNS governance, RPZ, and relevant threat protections.
Maintain documentation including runbooks, configuration baselines, and topology information.

Technical Skills:
Experience with enterprise DNS/DHCP/IPAM platforms such as Infoblox or BlueCat.
Strong understanding of DNS architecture, record types, recursion, forwarding, and caching.
Knowledge of DHCP failover, lease behaviour, and scope management.
Solid grasp of IP Addressing, subnetting, and core network fundamentals.
