Role Title: OT Cyber Security Manager
Location: Kent (100% onsite)
Duration: 26/02/2027
Pay Rate: £ 626 per day all inc. (PAYE through Umbrella)
Clearance: Contractor either Sc Cleared (active) or SC Eligible candidates
The candidate hasn't been outside the UK for more than 28 consecutive days during the last 5 years
Role Description:
- The OT Cyber Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity strategy to protect industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA environments, manufacturing systems, and critical infrastructure assets.
- This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and resilience of OT systems while supporting business operations, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation initiatives.
- The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, Health & Safety, Risk, and external partners to identify and mitigate cyber risks across operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
OT Cyber Security Strategy & Governance
- Develop and maintain the OT cybersecurity roadmap aligned with business objectives and enterprise security strategy.
- Establish OT cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures based on industry frameworks and best practices.
- Define governance processes for OT security across manufacturing plants, operational sites, and critical infrastructure environments.
- Provide expert guidance on OT security risks, controls, and investments.
- Conduct OT cybersecurity risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks affecting industrial systems.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and frameworks, including:
- IEC 62443
- NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
- NIS2 Directive
- ISO 27001
Industry-specific regulatory requirements:
- Lead OT security audits and support remediation activities.
- Design and maintain secure OT network architectures.
- Ensure appropriate segmentation between IT and OT environments.
- Review and approve OT technology deployments from a cybersecurity perspective.
- Support secure implementation of Industrial IoT (IIoT), cloud-connected industrial systems, and remote access solutions.
- Develop and maintain OT-specific cyber incident response procedures.
- Lead investigations and response activities for cybersecurity incidents impacting OT systems.
- Coordinate with IT Security Operations, engineering teams, and third-party vendors during incidents.
- Monitor emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities impacting industrial environments.
- Maintain visibility of OT assets, systems, and communication networks.
- Oversee vulnerability management processes for OT environments.
- Develop risk-based patching and remediation strategies that minimize operational disruption.
- Ensure secure configuration and lifecycle management of industrial assets.
- Partner with plant managers, engineers, maintenance teams, and IT security teams to drive cybersecurity improvements.
- Act as the primary OT cybersecurity subject matter expert for leadership and operational teams.
- Manage relationships with cybersecurity vendors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and deliver OT cybersecurity awareness programs.
- Promote a security-first culture within operational and engineering teams.
- Provide guidance and training on secure operational practices.
